Professor, Head of Department, and member of the interdiciplinary research centre Womher - Women's Mental Health during the Reproductive Lifespan
The overall aims of my research is to investigate how reproductive hormones influence mood and anxiety in women, how reproductive events affect mood disorders in women, and vice versa, how mood disorders affect reproduction in men and women.
The female sex steroids estradiol and progesterone have numerous actions in the central nervous system. We are particularly interested in the progesterone metabolites, also named neurosteroids, which bind to the GABAA-receptor.
The different aspects of my research are best described by my colleagues.
