Short presentation

Distinguished Teacher 2013, Professor in materials physics 2015, specializing on magneto-optic domain imaging and tuning of magnetic properties in thin layers. Teaching undergraduate courses in fundamental physics. Coordinated a graduate school "Materials for the 21st Century" (2008-2015). Assistant head of Department of Physics and Astronomy 2015-2020, deputy head 2016-2020. Section dean for physics 2020-2023. Currently director of postgraduate studies in physics since July 2023.

Research

  • Magnetism in thin films, multilayers/superlattices and heterostructures.

  • Magneto-optic domain imaging (Kerr microscopy)

  • Growth and characterisation using e.g. x-ray diffraction, magneto-optic Kerr effect, and neutron scattering.

Teaching (current and previous)

  • Mechanics for engineering students
  • Electromagnetism for engineering and physics students
  • BSc thesis projects for physics students
  • Measurement techniques for engineering students
