My research explores ways of ensuring non-diversion of nuclear material from the peaceful nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear energy systems. Nuclear safeguards are measures and tools that deter from (and detect) possible diversions. The development of non-destructive assay instruments and analysis techniques for primarily the verification of spent nuclear fuel, which I am contributing to, is an important part of the safeguards system.
