Research

My research focuses on social and economic relationships in rural Sweden in the early modern period. Inequalities and the distribution of resources, social and geographical mobility, and the division of work are central topics.

I have been a member of the Gender and Work research project since 2010. The aim of the project is to add to existing knowledge regarding work performed by men and women in the past. In the current phase, we study what happened to the gender division of work in the transition from early modern to the modern society. I have also studied social and economic differences between landholding peasants in seventeenth- and eighteenth- century Sweden (Distribution and differences) and the conditions of land-poor households before 1750 (e.g. Labouring poor in early modern Sweden?" och "Interdependent living").
