Roujman Shahbazian

Roujman Shahbazian is a lecturer in sociology. He is the program coordinator for the program focusing on human resources and work-life issues (the HR program) at Uppsala University.

Shahbazian's research focuses on social stratification, inequality, and family sociology. He is an affiliated researcher at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University, and at the Department of Sociology at University of Munich (LMU).

Shahbazian is currently involved in two ongoing interdisciplinary projects. The first one is about gender differences in income and careers, with an emphasis on gender-(a)typical occupations, which is a FORTE funded project, dnr: 2023-00034 (with, among others C. Magnusson, E. Bihagen, and J. Westerman). The second one is about careers in the Swedish labor market from the 1960s and onwards, which is a VR financed project dnr: 2020-02538 (with E. Bihagen, K. Halldén, and J. Westerman). Moreover, he also has a collaboration with M.H. Sepahvand that focuses on Burkina Faso and one core dimension of individuals' preferences: attitudes toward risk.

Shahbazian has also been involved in a completed project about income inequalities across working life. More specifically, studying the role of class, gender, and skills for lifetime income, which was a FORTE financed project dnr: 2018-00532 (with E. Bihagen, A. Böhlmark and S. Kjellsson).

Shahbazian has been a visiting scholar at the European University Institute (EUI), LIVES Center at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), and Collegio Carlo Alberto in Turin.
