Short presentation

I work as a lecturer in sustainable destination development. I am still mostly working on my postdoc at Mid Sweden University and I work at Uppsala University part time for now. I have a PhD in social sciences with a focus on tourism and previously I have studied communication science, political science, Nordic culture and history and cultural as well as natural heritage in tourism. I have also focused on qualitative methods. All this knowledge is the basis for both my teaching and research.

I was born in Italy and I have lived in Sweden for 14 years. I have also lived in Finland for part of the time. When I was in Italy, I studied at the Universitá degli Studi di Milano. I have a bachelor's degree in communication science, while political science was a minor. During my studies in Italy I received an Erasmus scholarship to study at the University of Gothenburg. Since then I have been in Sweden. I have since studied at Linköping University. I have a bachelor's degree in Tourism with a focus on natural and cultural heritage and a master's degree in History. The focus of the master's program was Nordic culture and I have mostly worked with Finnish history. I also speak a little Finnish. Then I went to Finland and I studied at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi. I then became a doctor in social sciences with a focus on tourism. More about my work experience can be found on my Linkedin page. I have put a link under "Also available at".

I have quite broad interests when it comes to research. My thesis focused on representations of Sámi culture in tourism marketing, authenticity, Sámi culture and sustainability, as well as sustainability labels and certifications. I have also been interested in Airbnb, nostalgia, philosophy of science, critical discourse analysis, and tourism policy. I am currently working within the Mistra Sport & Outdoors program where I focus on different types of policies and how sports and outdoor activities can become more sustainable. My broad interests make me flexible and I like to work on different aspects of sustainable destination development.
