Short presentation
I work at the interface of quantum field theory, string theory and mathematics. A central theme for my research is to develop new tools for understanding non-perturbative systems. I am the principal investigator of an ERC starting grant on the memory of solitons, and the deputy director of the Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries.
Keywords: quantum field theory string theory supersymmetry conformal symmetry categorical global symmetries
I have received my PhD in 2013 from SISSA (Trieste, IT), followed by an appointment as a research fellow at Harvard University (2013-2016), and then as a research assistant professor at the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics in Stony Brook, NY (2016-2018). Before joining the faculty at Uppsala University, I have been a lecturer at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of Durham University, UK (2018-2020).
Links to all my works can be found on googlescholar or inSPIREs.
Here is a selection of online recordings for some of my seminars:
- 230306 Uncharted territories in geometric engineering, Strings and Geometry 2023, Philadelphia, PA
- 221018 On the 6d origin of non-invertible symmetries, Quantum Matter in Phyisics and Mathematics seminar, CMSA, Harvard, MA
- 220513 Back to Heterotic Instantons on ALE spaces: F-theory, 2-groups, and T-duality, Strings and Geometry 2022, Utrecht, NL
- 220308 Global structures from the infrared, Symmetry Seminar
- 211128 Geometric engineering and correspondences, String-Math Seminar, Berkeley, CA
- 200928 Higher form symmetries and geometric engineering, KIAS autumn symposium
- 190617 5d SCFTs and their gauge theory phases, CERN, String Geometry and String Phenomenology Institute
- 180125 Six-dimensional Theories, Topological Strings, and Modular Invariance, Banff workshop Geometry and Physics of F-theory

- 161112 On Exceptional Instanton Strings, Mathematical string theory special session at the fall southeastern sectional meeting of the American Mathematical Society
Thanks to the support of the ERC starting grant, the Uppsala University co-funding, and the Simons Foundation, I have the opportunity of supervising a research group based across the Mathematics Department and the Theoretical Physics Division of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
