I am a registered nurse, specialist nurse in the care of older adults, and authorized sexologist (Specialist in Sex Education, Sexual Health Promoter [NACS]). I am completing my Ph.D. at Åbo Akademi Univ, Vaasa.

By profession, I am a registered nurse, Ph.Lic. and authorized sexologist (Specialist in Sex Education, Sexual Health Promoter [NACS]). Before starting as a lecturer, I have worked in emergency departments, clinical trials of HIV and hepatitis medications, and HIV/STI screening. I maintain clinical contact and experience through per diem work at the emergency department via Helsebemanning A/S and HIV/STI screenings at Stockholms Mansmottagning. It is essential to stay up to date clinically and know about the everyday work-life for nursing colleagues.

From my undergraduate years, my passion has been the health and care needs of sexual minority patients (LGBTQ). In the last few years, my focus has mainly been on older adults. Theoretically, my work is influenced by critical theories (gender, queer, and crip theories), particularly how that intersects with gerontology.

My licentiate thesis research has focused on symptom management, adherence to a mHealth intervention, and its effect on self-care ability and health literacy in a group of men treated with radiotherapy for prostate cancer.

In my continuation from licentiate to doctorate at Åbo Akademi University, the focus is the sex life in sexual minority men after prostate cancer treatment.
