Fredrik Valgeborg

I am employed as a Ph.D. student at the division for physics and astronomy, department of X-ray photon science, at Uppsala University. My main responsibilities are to conduct scientific research, education and studies. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions about my work, or if you just want to talk science.

My primary work is in experimental research on the dynamics of spin and charge in transition metal complexes. To that end, I primarily use synchtrotron facilities. Using the X-rays from such facilities, I conduct experiments in an attempt to elucidate the electron dynamics of photo-excited transition metal complexes in various environments, and how this affects reactivity and reaction pathways. I engage in fundamental research, but hopefully, what we learn from this research may be used to understand and optimize catalytic reactions and redox-reactions involving transition metal complexes, to promote progress in other fields, e.g., practical applications, such as artificial photosynthesis.
