Sebastian Westenhoff

Short presentation

The Westenhoff group studies protein structural dynamics at ultrashort time scales in order to understand elementary biochemical reactions. We use and develop cutting edge methods in time-resolved crystallography at X-ray Free Electron lasers, single-particle cryo EM, and protein prediction by artificial intelligence. We study phytochrome proteins (detection of light in plants and bacteria), photolyases (DNA repair), and proteins in the circadian clock.
