Short presentation

Shruti holds a strong research interest in issues of transparency and accountability, risk and resilience across different fields. Her prior work explores these connections within accounting and law, in the empirical context of financial markets and market participants in Sweden and the EU. Her ongoing research extends into the regulation-practice nexus of the international FinTech arena, focusing on innovation, risk, and competition between incumbent firms and new market entrants.

Shruti read her Juris Doctor at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law, with a dual focus on environmental law and US financial sector law. She is admitted to the New York State Bar. Prior to joining Uppsala University where she completed her PhD in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting, Shruti worked in the US investment banking sector as well as the public international sector in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to her research activities in the fields of accounting and law, Shruti lectures and teaches at the undergraduate and masters level on quantitative as well as qualitative courses related to her expertise and interests. These include the areas of financial reporting, accounting, management and control, corporate governance, corporate valuation, US and EU financial sector regulation, accounting regulation, and audit regulation.
