Peter van Tour, The Improvised Fugue in Germany and Italy between 1670 and 1760
This post-doctoral research project, hosted by the University of Leuven, will investigate how organists were trained to acquire skills in fugal improvisation. Various kinds of short-hand notation in Italian and German sources from between 1670 and 1760 will be systematically investigated. This project is funded by the Swedish Research Council (July 2016 – July 2019).
