Short presentation
My name is Henrik Edgren and I am senior lecturer/Associate professor at the Department of Education. I have a PhD in history (2005) from the Department of History at Uppsala University. My main research interests concern Sweden and the Nordic countries in the 19 th century, from the era of the Napoleonic Wars and onwards. I am also interested in how a Swedish national identity was promulgated via school text books from the 1860s. I was the head of the Department of Education from 2013-2020.

Jag är född 1972 och är fil dr i historia vid Uppsala universitet. Jag disputerade 2005 och min avhandling handlade om politisk press och uppbyggandet av en svensk nationell identitet efter 1809-1810 års omvälvande politiska, militära och ekonomiska händelser. Mina andra forskningsintressen rör främst folkskolans framväxt och innehåll under 1800-talet. Förutom att vara verksam vid Uppsala universitet har jag varit lärare och forskare på Linnéuniversitetet i Växjö-Kalmar, på Försvarshögskolan i Stockholm samt vid Stockholms universitet. Sedan september 2012 är jag lektor i utbildningshistoria vid Institutionen för pedagogik, didaktik och utbildningsstudier. Där har jag också varit studierektor (2012-2013) och prefekt (2013-2020).
