I'm a professor in Scandinavian Archaeology where I focused on Prehistory, Osteology and Landscape Studies. I have also specialised in Pacific Archaeology (Rapa Nui and Samoa) since the mid-1980s and have an interdisciplinary approach to Archaeology and Sustainable Cultural Heritage Management. I teach courses as;

I'm the coordinator of Global Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History which includes issues on Ingdigneous Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, and Repatriations as well as Global Historical Ecology. I have an interdisciplinary approach to research and education at the intersection of Humanities, Social and Natural Sciences with a focus on long-term relationships and entanglements between humans, landscape/seascape, and material culture.
Currently, I have projects on sustainable tourism and cultural heritage management on the Pacific Island Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and on the Baltic Island of Gotland. Another of my current research interests focuses on fisheries and coastal area development and management in the past, present, and future on Gotland Island in collaboration with socio-ecologists which is included in a graduate school of sustainability issues. This research includes the use of geological methods, sedimentary DNA, and osteological analyses.
In addition, I research materialized ideology in the form of monumental architecture and its relationship to social change and a changing landscape in Bronze Age society on Gotland Island but I'm also engaged in research on current cultural heritage management and how we use monuments from the past in present tourism, as identity markers, and for political purposes. Besides the research on Gotland Island, I have longstanding research on the two Pacific Islands of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and Independent Samoa as well as past experience in doing archaeological research in South America.
