Research

The renovation of rental housing in Sweden has become an active debate during the last couple of years; especially because the housing built during the record building years of 1965-1975 is in need of renovation to present day housing standard. This creates an opportunity for a contemporary investigation about the underlying issues and their spatial and social implications in the city. The aim of my research is therefore to analyze the socio-economic consequences of renovation in rental housing in the light of recent political and economic developments to illustrate the complexity of the processes and issues involved. As such I will explore the relevant issues from several different angles in order to offer an even-handed perspective.

My supervisors are associate professor Brett Christophers at the Department of Social and Economic Geography at Uppsala University and researcher at the Institute for Housing and Urban Research and associate professor Susanne Stenbacka at the Department of Social and Economic Geography at Uppsala University.
